As a tourist in Ghent: cultural and culinary indulgence for the King George household

11-04-2022

Every royal needs to step back from his throne from time to time. Getting away from it all therefore means new insights and inspiration. While Queen Elizabeth liked to linger at Balmoral Castle for a game of golf, cricket or horseback riding, King George took his nobles for a cultural and culinary day in Ghent. As day-trippers, the royal household was treated to a glimpse of tomorrow’s kingdom at Yalo Hotel, treats from Eat Love and knowledge about the glorious city.

King George: yesterday, today and tomorrow

With breakfast cake in hand, lots of tasty treats were served at the beginning of the inspirational gathering. The mad king Nicolas Block took all the royals – from seasoned to fresh newbie – to Yalo Boutique Hotel. Pretty much the entire team worked for more than four years on the total concept of Yalo, from strategy to branding to interior design. Today, everyone got a physical glimpse of what Yalo has become.

But not only in Yalo did the household get a tour. Nicolas delved into the archives and took us on a tour of all the milestones of more than ten years of King George. The latest new milestone: the rebranding. The in-house strategy, corporate identity and website were put in a brand new avant-garde King George cloak and went into avant premiere.

We (Eat) Love Pizza!

Someone with a refined nose for all that is beautiful and good can also smell that there is goodness simmering in Eat Love’s kitchen. Consequently, no King George’s royal will turn down a culinary menu from royal client Eat Love. There they were gastronomically spoiled with pizza, pasta and dessert with a twist.

Eat Love was completely designed and marketed by King George.

In the city of Ghent

Even though the roots of many royals lie in the East Flemish capital, a guided walk through Ghent revealed that not everyone was equally knowledgeable about the city. Charlie Tours tested King George’s knowledge with a True or False walk. Is it true that when a birth occurs in Ghent, the street lights on the Veerleplein begin to flicker? Was the peace treaty between the United States and the United Kingdom really signed on Ghent soil? And is the Castle of the Counts actually a Syrian look-a-like? True or false? Place your bets!

Days become nights, and even King George dares to explore the nightlife. Whether more inspiration could be found in the pints or glasses of wine is doubtful, but there is no lack of team spirit after such a day.
